Associate of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology Program 

Medical laboratory technicians (MLTs) are part of the team of medical specialists who analyze bodily fluids 和 tissues to provide information to doctors, MLTs are vital to diagnosis 和 treatment of disease 和 maintenance of good health.

  • Your faculty members include a program director 和 expert medical technologists (MTs). Students practice clinical skills at 祝福医院 which allows students access to state-of-the art biomedical instrumentation, 技术, 和电脑. The 祝福医院 laboratory is the largest 和 most advanced in a 100-mile radius. It is staffed by qualified MLTs 和 scientists certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. The laboratory is under the direction of three board-certified pathologists. Experienced MTs 和 MLTs serve as clinical instructors during laboratory rotations. On-site pathologists also work with 和 mentor our students.

    • Clinical sites include: 祝福医院, 草地医院, Carthage Memorial Hospital, McDonough District Hospital, 汉尼拔诊所, 和 Hannibal Regional Hospital. 

    • A clinical site's ability to take a student is variable 和 subject to change based on current resources. Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing 和 健康科学 Associates in Medical Laboratory Technology program anticipates having enough clinical sites to place students for training. In the event that an unforeseen circumstance may arise 和 a shortage of clinical sites occur, the College will take the following necessary steps to find clinical placements for students:

      • Reassign students to alternate clinical affiliate sites

      • Establish new clinical affiliate agreements with clinical sites within the region if there are no alternate clinical affiliate sites available 

      • Establish new clinical affiliate agreements with clinical sites outside the region if there are no alternate clicl sites available within the region 

    • Clinical affiliation agreements require time to establish. Students who were not placed will be assigned to a clinical site as soon as one becomes available. The program will make every attempt to avoid this kind of situation as it may delay graduation 和 eligibility to take the ASCP registry examination.

The MLT program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). As part of this accreditation process, the following rates for the MLT program are reported annually:

  • Graduates of the program will be well prepared for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Registry exam.
